Hello fellow hatchers!

In a moment of sadness and weakness after loosing my tolbunt polish to presumably a hawk, I not only hawk proofed the run but also ordered polish hatching eggs!! So just in time for my birthday weekend, I got a batch of polish eggs and assorted bantams! I am so very excited. Eggs arrived yesterday. I let them settle for a day and just placed them in the incubator .

I am a bit nervous though because they arrived a day later then the post office initially said and they were pretty shooken up 4 of them broken. Some of the other egges were dirty from the broken eggs and I wiped them off with a wet paper towel. Wish me luck guys I am nervous!

I am doing a "dry incubation" the hydrometor says its 15% that seems so low to me? its day 3 bitting my nails already

I'm starting a hatch with my daughter's preschool tomorrow. A mix of Buff and Lavender Orpingtons mostly. I'm not doing a dry incubation, this is only my second hatch and the first one went totally wrong. 0% :( So I've worked hard to get the conditions just right. I've been running the incubator for two days trying to get the humidity and temp right. I can't seem to figure out which thermometer is right, they're all a little different from each other. Do you guys lay yours right on the eggs? I have them on the turner and now they're closer to each other than when one was attached to the window and much lower than the others. I am also having trouble setting up the humidity. i filled the trench as in the manual for the 1588 (Hovabator) and then I put in the hygrometer and it's reading 65%. I took out the vent to dry it out a little overnight. If I don't get it perfectly between 40 and 50% by tomorrow should I not start the eggs yet? Or can it not be quite perfect right at the beginning?

Thanks for your help!

It's day seven today and I didn't have time to candle the eggs. Won't have time tomorrow either. Really hoping leaving them until Sunday will be OK. Let's hope the humidity and temperature held steady from yesterday :)

Everything holding steady and just right! Candled the eggs today. Saw veining for the first time, so exciting! 3 have progressed perfectly. 8 have air cells but are too dark and I couldn't see veins. A bunch weren't fertile.

There's one that I can't tell what is going on. It was hard to get a good picture. It had a ton of feathery stuff goings on, do you think it's an infection?
