Delaware (edit: jk we don't know) x White Leghorn - an intriguing pullet

@Amer look at this
Woah.
She looks like a barred splash (blue dilution will hide some barring) but that makes no sense! Leghorns are supposed to be dominant white, which means she should be mostly white but with the tiniest amount of blue or black barred feathers poking through. Virtually solid white.
I don’t know what’s going on here.

What breeds did you mix?!
Well. I have 1 Brahma Rooster which is partly some other mystery breed😄i literally have no idea what he is but anyway, he is in with a flock of Lohmann Browns which are just a breed created by crossing Rhode Islands and White Rock breeds.
The chicks are true mongrels😅
Here's a couple of pics. They have grown a bit since.
They have colours which none of my hens have so it must be a previous generation colouring. Looking forward to seeing what they turn out to look like. 😁

Yeah, it’s odd. Her coloring reminds me of these leghorn hybrids that have been mislabeled as California whites or austra whites- https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/is-she-really-a-california-white.1452405/. Maybe it’s red leakage? Though that makes even less sense, unless the leghorn mother is actually a mix or has recessive white.

Well I texted the girl about it and she said she just had found out the dad was not a Delaware after all! She knew he looked off but he was very sweet to the ladies I guess LOL! She said "I was going to get rid of him when I found out he wasn't a Delaware (I found out yesterday) I kept thinking he looked different, but he's such a good boy to the girls so I haven't had the heart to send him off. 😅😂
I was looking through a new catalog I got from a hatchery a few days ago and I saw that breed and the rooster looked identical to him and that would explain why the girls out of him and my Delaware's were golden"
She said she thinks he's a breed that the boys are white and girls are red and crossed with a blue egg layer. So mystery of Sophie is solved! With a new mystery of what her dad is LOL.

Well like I just replied to Amer, guess the gal just found out the dad isn't even a Delaware and something where the girls are red, boys are white. Which makes sense since the boys look different. But that's a quite funny thread because I also thought she was dirty when I got her! But then realized she just has that tint making her look dirty haha

Sophie has such an interesting color!
Her dad is red sex link, more specifically the Rhode Island Red rooster over Delaware hen cross (there are multiple different crosses for RSLs).
I don't think her brothers have a leghorn mother, because if they did they would be solid white.

Well that explains it! Yes, your girl is gold, which explains the yellowy stuff. Blues and splashes on a gold base (and whites too) get a yellowy cast.

this is a more full body pic she just sent me.
Yeah, the dad looks like a red sex link. It would be interesting to see your pullet as she grows.

I love that both my chickens are this strange combination of breeds hehe!
thank you so much, that totally makes more sense and i appreciate you knowing which RSL! but yeah she says they have the same parents but who knows, switched at birth perhaps 🤪
