Another good thing to track will be chick weights at hatch and %true hatch since your group is pansy, could get some “yellers” or basically any color/size as they only hatch about 75% true! F2 get even more interesting! I got one from pearl hen/pansy male that’s absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Since quail are so tiny, you could also tie a piece of yarn around their leg, using different colors or color combinations. Their legs grow slow enough that you’d have plenty of time to identify them, or switch to zip ties after they’ve grown a little.

What is SSC and "fee gene"?
the “fee gene” is a “white feather” gene in Falb fee and Pearl Fee colors. SSC basically denotes Silver/Gray varieties originating from the “Schofield Silver Collection” that was first brought in from Canada by Perry Schofield.
