i just signed up for a free one, so how do you like it? something that surprised me was there is no standardization on meters, so one brand will read different from another- so yes stick to just one
I love it. All meters have to be within 20% of a lab glucose value 95% of the time. That is the standard... Sounds pretty lax to me. And there are definitley difference in plasma meters (closest to lab values), whole blood meters (low), and wave sense meters (supposedly the most accurate). But the Onetouch, in my opinion... and it is ONLY an opinion... is by far the most accurate so that is what I use as my gold standard. The reason I use more than one meter is because the strips for the onetouch are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and I only get 100 a month on insurance. I test 6-8 times a day, so really I go through them very fast. And out of pocket is another 100 bucks for 100. I soooooo can't afford that. That is why I bought the Relion... very accurate meter, very cheap strips.. the only way to beat that combo is with the usb that allows me to hook up to computer and tranfer data without having to enter it.
