I LOVE canon cameras. Have an odd love for them and I am trying to get enough money to get the SLR, but like so many times, things come up and the saved up "extra" money goes to more important things like a mortgage. Here are some of the pics I have taken with mine.

The first three are pictures of the boys, which they never stop moving, the third is a shot in the dark, at night, and the last one is one that is zoomed really far.

I have had a sony cybershot dsc600 6.5mp for the last 2 half years. My daughter liked it so much and was so simple for her to use, she went and bought one. Great camera, survived 2 mainland vacations and weekly beach & camping trips. I even taken it motocross & trail riding to get movies of my son riding and jumping. Had great movie recording with sound. Simple to use. Small compact will fit in a fanny pack or glove box no problem. Lens cover automatically closes. And good price around $160 at walmart.
Only problem is it likes high power in its batteries. I've tried to put generic rechargables and they don't have enough mAh. But with the high amp quality batteries it will last for hundreds of photos.

We(DH) has been researching cameras of late. We are into astronomy and want to get into astrophotography. With how expensive the "good" cameras are, we would like to find one that we can do the astro and regular pictures with. We now have a kodak easy share CX7430 It is okay, I am not always satisfied with the quality.

seachick-we have not had any problem with the battery cover, we have had this one for several years.

Lily-My DH does not read directions either. I read them and tell him what things do. If you don't read direc. you are wasting money on things you could be using but have no idea you can do.

We have a Nikon coolpix L3. It's my secon Nikon cool pix cuz I loved the first one. Has a big screen, color is great, easy to use and LOTS of options for it. It takes great close ups and night pics also.

My friend has a canon, not sure which one, which also takes great pix but was way more expensive than mine.

I use a Canon Rebel. Takes good pic's but it was expensive.... I've yet to figure out everything it can do!

I just got a Cannon Power Shot SD500 Sigital ELPH. I only paid $125.00 for it at the pawn shop.

Just got home a little while ago with my new camera: a Canon PowerShot SD1000. It was only $150 at Office Depot. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm liking it so far. The buttons are almost like my old camera, so my learning curve will be up steep and quick, hopefully. I've already added some new pictures to my flicker page that I took with it.

I think I am going to keep this camera for now, but defenatly will be saving for another one. I have a whole collection I guess Lol

Almost all digital cameras can take decent pictures. The trick is, you have to become familiar with them and learn how they work. If you aren't getting good pictures, you have to do something different!

I've got the same 3.1MP camera that I got in 2003 that I still use. Can't justify getting a new one since the pictures from this camera still look decent.

I purchased a camera for the holidays for my parents that was about $130. 7.1MP camera, doesn't have all the bells and whistles and digital processing as some of the other cameras have, but it is more than enough for general point and shoot kind of picture taking.

But for those really good pictures, an SLR camera with a great lens is hard to beat, but most of us don't need professional level cameras.
