Disgusting Brooder Conditions! PICS

These 2 pictures are posted on a local NC poultry and livestock swap page on Facebook. This particular poster has many photos on his FB page that all look really bad. In the pictures below, note that the chicks are in what looks like a 10 gallon aquarium, therefore the walls should be clear glass. Their bedding material appears to be compacted, dried chicken s%$&! Why on earth would someone post those pictures? Notice the absence of food and water.

That's disgusting! Perhaps an educational post explaining health issues that can arrise due to those conditions would be in order.

While visiting that local FB page, it appears as though being a chicken and livestock broker is what he does for a living. Every time someone posts an animal for sale, he's the first to respond wanting to trade this, that or the other. I'm not sure an educational lesson will help. It looks like that poop has built up over some time.

I don't know what the laws are in your area..can you report him to any agency?

these pics make me sick... i freaked out before because somehow my chicks knocked their water over and completely soaked the pine shavings and cardboard... (thank goodness there was a sheet of plastic in between the bottom of the box and the cardboard sheet they were on in case this happened...) anyway i spent an hour completely fixing the box because i was afraid they were gonna get wet and sick ( there was also the issue of a chick escaping from the smaller box they go in while they get "changed" and i chased her around for a while ). but the point is that his job is not that difficult!! its a tiny box just clean out the poop!!! this is absolutely horrible

Ya know...I don't think the chicks look old enough to have pooped that many hardened down layers..which means they put chicks in the brooder lke that at the start. I'd be for saying something on the fb page publicly.
