I sent her a link to this thread since it was easier to let her read it herself than for me to try and remember everything. She is exploring some options, many of which were mentioned here. And one or two that weren't but came about because of all of you.

One thing she knows is that this isn't going to go away on its own or be all taken care of tomorrow or next week. But just knowing that there are others out there who have had similar issues and that there are others who are supportive does help. So a huge thank you goes put to everyone.

Talk to a lawyer again. Some will take payments or even if it is a bad case do pro bono.

the mediator was a piece of work and not in a nice way.

A judge can help her better.

Oldest kid needs to go to counseling NOW! Hitting his mother is a big no no.
