gotta enjoy the extra peace tho! I've got a bunch that need to go...wow it sure is quieter here today with two of the cockerels processed...didnt realized they were making so much noise lol
I just can't believe that happened and there is no trace of squished or dead chick's or anything. I felt like something was wrong when they got shipped Friday. Most seem OK tonight. 1 is acting goofy, figure it might perish by tomorrow.Heyla, Jem!
Oh, and sorry about the chicks, @minihorse927...![]()
Not sure about bamas vacation
It's a big bureaucratic thing with the eggs, it has nothing to do with the Heath of the consumer... It's about keeping tabs on supply and demand... Funny thing is, its legal on Vancouver island for restaurants and grocery/Heath food stores to retail local farm eggs from small scale places who don't hold egg shares... I have some reading to do... Got to get this bs changed.
@hennible , It is almost impossible for the average person to sell eggs from their backyard to any grocery store around here. You have to have permits, inspections, file taxes on it and all kinds of mumbo jumbo. It's ridiculous. So, most people just sell from their own front door. Ohio also has stupid laws that you cannot advertise "Fresh eggs", "Farm eggs", "Brown eggs" or anything of the like. The sign is only allowed to say "Eggs for sale". People break that law everywhere here though. Hopefully the police have better things to do, like controlling drug trafficking (tons of heroine overdoses around here at spiking rates in the past couple years) and hopefully the police will overlook these minor details of us little farms just trying to recoup some funds to feed our critters.
