Don't remember who was talking about hollow apple trees awhile ago but here's the one I said was knarly. My best producer of tons of apples. I think it is a Black Gilliflower aka Sheepsnose. It's obviously been hollow for many yrs. Old apple trees are tough.

Hi everybody!

Sorry for just popping in here and there, but it's been crazy around here. We are getting the house together for a construction company to come in and rip it apart..........well, that's how it feels anyways. They are ripping out the kitchen cabinets and all the flooring later this month.

Also we are going to fix our back deck that decided to "hydraulic" on one corner. Basically when the kitchen pipes busted this past winter, the water went under our wooden back deck, made the ground expand and caused one end to hydraulic, so the concrete and 4x4 came up out of the ground about a foot which also caused the steps to bust off the deck. It's a mess. Oh, and also can't open the back door without it scrapping up the deck because it's so high up. I'll try to get pics of it to better understand.

@Beer can , I am the one with the hobbit hole in the crabapple tree.

It's doing fine also. I think your hobbits are larger than mine.

We got our garden planted

and I got 2 pear trees to plant today. Trying to figure the best placement for these.

Chicken story I'd like to share: As many of you know, hubby's dog attached mine & neighbor's chickens a couple months ago. I gave the neighbor 3 of my chickens to replace the ones our dog killed. Well, since then the neighbor has had bouts with raccoons attacking his flock & then his german shepherd/wolf mix attached one of (what used to be) my hens. She is an astro/SS mix. He brought her back to me and said he didn't have the heart to shoot her & apologized repeatedly. I put her on the ground & she has a limp. I checked her over and don't see any puncture wounds. So, now she has been back here about a week. She is in a small cage (to limit her mobility so she can heal) with food, water & straw. She has laid 3 eggs and is doing great. I get her out once a day to "stretch". My chickens are tough!
