So!! Everyone remember how my bf was having a fit for me to make coolerbators out of styrofoam coolers instead of spending $70 on a Coleman???? Well, I just sold my kids old 4wheelers that they r WAY too big for now!!! I took $80 out of it so I could buy the Coleman!!!! I just didn't WANT styrofoam!!!! I have 2 styrofoam incys now! I wanted to get AWAY FROM IT!!! I'm so excited!!! Heading to Walmart in a few hours!!!

Day 8 of incubation.

How am I doing? Looking at my air bubble, how is my humidity? Up? Down? Or good?

Most of my eggs are veined. I marked the air bubble on those. Looks like a "O".

I have 6 eggs that look like nothing is happening. I put a "?" On them.

Ok, i moved the light so that the fan blows across it. Got it up and running. Fingers crossed!

Shouldn't you always have 2 light bulbs?
In case one of them burns out so that you don't loss the whole hatch?

If you didn't install a double, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU do two lights in one of these!!
THEY DO BLOW, and they blow your hatch could easily be lost!

First one looks weird like a blood ring is happening, keep an eye on the dark cloudy ones, sniff test too.

your air cells seem good so far, how old were your eggs and are you weighing or watching air cells?

what humidity is your room and what is the bator, also what is your location estimate?

you didnt wash the eggs correct? nor did the seller?

you are moving them around incase you have hot and cold spots right?

I know a zillion questions, lol there are so many variables, I am sure I have ten more things to ask!
you did add a fan and it blows just below your lights right?

Good idea, will do. So if i have a 40 watt in there now, math tells me I need 2 20s?

1. Im just learning about those "blood rings" it looks like I have several eggs in there with them... BUMMER!!!
do you have any photos of what "Blood Rings" look like so I can ID them and toss them?
I also had 6 unfertalized eggs I pulled out today...they had the "?" on them in my photos...

2. I can inject water into my closed bator.. im trying to keep it 20-35% humidity in there.

3. I did not wash the eggs.
but I forgot, and made the mistake of handleing them with unwashed hands when I candled them...
yikes!

4. I have not moved them around.. should I? if so how often?

5. Yes i have a fan blowing in there... i dont know enough yet to ask questions...

I received my 4 pack of case fans over the weekend. I want to use one to replace the worn-out (and now very noisy) fan on my old hoverbator. I will be using it as a hatcher only, and I'm thinking the new fan might provide too much air flow, drying out the membranes even at a high humidity. Am I right that a lower flow is desirable for hatching? Anyone know if it will cause any problems to use a lower voltage power supply? Am I right to assume that will slow the fan? Will it cause the fan to wear prematurely ? At 4 for $10, maybe I don't care that much unless the reduces the life span to a week or 2.
