do ducks eat slugs?

So glad to run across this I was just outside with my ducks, yes as 12:30 at night lol, anyway one of them ate a slug and I freaked out seeing as I've never head the ducks eating slugs thing and I've never seen them eat a slug. Needless to say my semi sleepy mind thought up some terrible scenario when slugs are somehow poisonous to them or something and I am so relieved to have found this post. Thank you all so much!

Yes they go crazy over them, and they love to eat slug eggs they look like a transparent bb pellet.

I have to say I don't think I've ever seen a slug in real life- at least not in my backyard! This thread is making me happy I don't live in "slug country!" Probably a good thing because so far my ducks are scared of worms... /img/smilies/hu.gif

my mallards love worms they would eat them every day if I would dig them up..lol

yes! every time i left my girls out into the yard they race each other to the well house to grab the slugs that live near it. Our slugs are on the smaller side though. i'd like to see them with some of the larger slugs on the west coast. Salamanders and frogs are favorites too.

We have bantam ducks that will even eat snails, shell and all. I guess the extra calcium is good for them. I was worried about choking and not digesting the shell but my trees are greatful and the ducks are fine.
