You’re going to have to give more information about your rooster. Colors that are genetically different can outwardly look very similar.

Lavender is not a sexlinked gene, and c+ isn’t a thing. Also, I need to know the base. If you’re not sure about the genes explain the phenotypes (fancy work for how the color looks) to me.

I was meaning how do I know what each breed has. Ex: Colombian, Melanotic, Extention of black, Dom, white, Rec. white, and others.

Different patterns have different genes. If you go to https://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm
You can pick the colors and then click “crossing over” and it will tell you exactly what each parent has.
Edelras, which I linked earlier, explains the genetics of every pattern.

It acts like Columbian because it restricts the black to the tail and neck, but with Columbian, it removes even more black, especially on the wheaten base.

Birchen is an extension of black which spreads a lot of black over the body and restricts the phaeomelanin a lot.
I apologize, earlier I referred to phaeomelanin as eumelanin, that was a mistake.

Yes, he isn’t birchen. He is actually black with leakage. Even though he looks like birchen. Some people color “psuedo-birchen.”

For whatever reason, anything on the e locus is a “base.” I guess it’s kind of a foundation for the pattern.
