Do you color your hair?

Wish most of you had told WHAT you use to color or lighten your hair.

My natural color is mousy-brown and I have been using Summer Blonde by Clairol and it works great. Was able to do about 3 or 5 times in one year. Just to keep almost natural color with highlights. Does not cover gray. Only a few gray.

Now Clairol does not make Summer Blonde......and I don't know what I will do.???? Does anyone use a lightner? And who makes it? Regards, Aria

I will be 26 next month and have been dying my hair for over a year now...because of all the grays. I don't know where I get this grey hair trait, my mom didn't start dying her hair until she was about 40 or so. I have so many grays...more like whites.! I need to dye it again... I am naturally a darker brown, but I have been going more red. DH says the red suits me.

Growing up, our place was literally salon-central for much of the neighborhood.

Cutting, perming, coloring, bleaching, sometimes crying...especially the guys.

For years now every 6-8 weeks or so I go see my hair guy & he weaves it with blonde & browns, lighter or darker, depending on whatever change I'm in the mood for.

After radiation & chemo my hair grew back a different color...from naturally light brown w/some blonde highlights, to almost black with white & some grey. Not bad for a change and I rocked that looked for a while as it grew out.

I like changing my hair color/style. Guess we're from a long line of peeps that have always been trying new stuff with our hair/makeup/nails.

I colored my hair for years, then just got so tired and $$ because in two weeks my gray was showing again, I just gave up. Ironically my hair was always reddish brown in the summer months and then just brunette during the winter months, but now it has turned almost black in the back and my hair dresser cuts it so the black shows and my gray is on the sides and top. . .my bd was yesterday, 59 years old and my DH said "why don't you color your hair?" hurt my feelings, to say the least, but might give it one more shot since there are so many new and improved ones out there and I get really good coupons to try one. DH does color his hair (or as I say, what is left of it, hee hee) but I feel like raising 5 kids and a husband EARNED me each and every one of these grays. I sort of like it, and if you are a make up person like me (not dramatic, but I do love mascara) you can redo your make up to bring your face out with gray hair . . .my mom had gorgeous gray hair and luckily mine is like hers, no yellow and it blends really nice. I try to be happy with the way I naturally AM but there is always someone wanting to change you . . .and I don't think all those chemicals are good for the head either and I always ITCH afterwards so I know there is a slight allergic reaction . . .I feel 28 in my head and heart, so that should be enough!!!!

49 - been coloring for years - mine is about half gray - Sometimes I tire of dealing with color - but I HATE the gray - I'm sure at some point my laziness will overcome the concern for the gray and I'll let it go, but for now - Feria is my friend!

Happy Birthday!

Thank you. I didn't get a cake, what else is new, but I FINALLY did make a remark to DH last night that "I bake a stinkin' cake for everyone in this family and no one can even return the favor." I really like bd cake and ice cream in case you didn't know!!!

I started seeing grey hair at the ripe old age of 11. Colored it to cover the grey all thru high school. Colored it to make me feel younger throughout my 20's and 30's. I let it grow out, and had fabulous looking salt and pepper hair in my 30's and 40's.
I actually got a senior discount at 35 in one store without asking. Cut it all off and started coloring it again. Feeling that mid-life crisis kicking in, I have been every color except blue.
Too bad I need a touchup every 2-3 weeks. Mid 40's, I have embraced my almost white hair, and saving a TON of money.
I will be 50 this year, and somehow still feel funny when I get complimented on my great looking hair.
Now I have learned to say "Thank You!" and really mean it. With age comes wisdom, but I like the confidence part best of all. Roberta

I dont actually colour my hair... I pay someone to do it for me so I dont end up with green hair!

no grey hairs yet... my mom never went grey till she was 60 and undergoing chemotherapy

I wouldn't say it shows confidence... for some laziness... I would rather see a woman with graying hair thru-out than one who dyes her hair but you can see there gray at the scalp...
