Do you give your chickens yogurt?

I used to give them a small plate to share, I think they liked it but they'd sneeze it all over my legs.

One of the first things I do with a new batch of chicks is feed them yogurt, it helps with pasty butt and has greatly increased our survival rate. Which is good, because I have a habit of picking up 'lost cause chicks'.

I give mine a little yogurt when I make some. I also use the whey from making Greek yogurt to mix with the crushed up bits of their food to make a mash. They love that. A lot.

I don’t buy dairy for the flock, but give any leftovers to them. With kids, you often end up with uneaten/drunken bits.

I mix up tums in yogurt for eggbound chickens. They love it and I give some to them as a treat occasionally. My girls happen to get white beaks and the process- and it’s true they do sneeze it and fling it all over you!

I gave vanilla yogurt to my chickens a few times and also tried oatmeal once. Then I did more research on both and decided not to offer them again. I wet their feed to an oatmeal consistency and add colorful vegetable scraps as a warm treat, or make them scrambled eggs on especially cold nights. I also add a little apple cider vinegar to their water for digestive support, and also to help keep it fresh when it's being heated for consecutive days.
