:frow welcome, UncleChuck! What part of the country are you in, that you can get chanterelles?
I live in the north central part of Florida and we get loads of them any time there's a lot of rain for at least two weeks when it's warm enough. Last September marked the beginning of a good two-month long period where I was getting 2-3 lbs twice per week.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I do know a lot about the most commonly hunted and cultivated species and wouldn't mind being tagged for questions.

I just love that you all have been going on about this for 13 pages. 😏

I personally hated mushrooms when I was younger, but as some have said I got converted by properly cooked shitakes and oyster mushrooms. One time I found a lions mane mushroom growing in our backwoods. There are no look alikes, so I brought it home and we ate it for dinner. It felt amazing on so many levels.

That’s awesome!!!

My GirlChild, my granddaughter that I've been raising since she was ten, used to sit next to me at the dinner table. I think she was about 11 or 12 when I served mushrooms that had been sauteed in butter at dinner once, and when I offered her some this is what she said, literally all in one breath:

Eew, no, I don't want any, they look disgusting I would never eat any of those wait let me try one ooh those are delicious give me more!

It made my head spin, not literally, but we still tease her about it.

I think that basically sums up the entire debate in one sentence. 😏
