I don’t mean separated I mean no interaction. They would be very used to being around each other but the key is used to each other and ignoring each other. Over time they would be so used to being around each other and not interacting I believe they would just completely ignore each other. As soon as you allow them to physically interact with each other they want to do it more. Like with Chase and other dogs. If I make it clear from the beginning he is to ignore the other dog he has no problem and genially acts like that dog doesn’t exist. But as soon as he is allowed to play with the other dog, he is constantly wanting to play again.
Ahhhh okay. That might be kind of hard with living animals to get them to ignore each other 24/7 lol

If you you ever see a videos with highly titled sport dogs (like IGP, PSA, and mondioring) you’ll notice that they dogs are closely managed but they all completely ignore other dogs. You know those male working lines are dog aggressive because they pretty much all are. But their obedience is so good and the owners aren’t stupid that they have no problem with them being together.
Yeah true but they’re not together 24/7 365 I bet lol

The reason why I say I wouldn’t recommend it is most people don’t have good obedience and aren’t aware and don’t micromanage everything like I do😆

I sometimes worry about same sex aggression because I personally prefer female dogs and plan to just have females. I've never had an instance of same sex aggression when we had 2 females but both were calm breeds. I don't think I'll ever own 2 intense dogs, like dobies, at a time though. I'm hoping with having calm breeds+intense breed it'll be ok. Plus they'll be well trained anyway

Yeah I agree but that’s where management comes in. If you can’t keep an eye on them you put one away. Maybe it wouldn’t work if your dogs like to go in different parts of the house where you can’t watch them but Chase sticks to me like glue every chance he gets. I see me having no issues making sure they keep to themselves.

That’s true!

And what I’m saying isn’t for everyone. Some people want their dogs to play. Weather that be to tire them out or they have some sort of humanish idea that they are “brothers” and should love each other. It makes some people sad that their dogs don’t get along. I don’t care in the least.

Yeah it’s a risk with high strung breeds like German shepherds and dobies. Training is key in my opinion.

Ahhhh okay. That sounds easier then lol

I just admit I think I’m one of those people LOL either that or just lazy 🤣🙈 I could never crate and rotate, at least not permanently, and expect them to get along if I ever get another dog LOL but I would get him a “sister” so it’s easier. 🤣😭🙈

Yeah I get it🤣 I don’t like the idea of crate and rotate either honestly. Which is part of the reason why I have said numerous times I only want one dog. Chase will be about 9 when I get my dobie so if I do have to do a strict crate and rotate it wouldn’t be long. Optimum situation for me would be them ok with being around each other and not bothering the other dog. Then you only have to crate when you’re not there.
