Does anyone use the nipple water drinkers?

Hi everyone, I bought the nipples from Tech supply. They do have a large shipping cost so I called them and they lowered it to 4.95 which was great. When I got my package the reason was clear, they send some free gloves and a large catalog in a metallic envelope which was heavy. Try to ask for cheaper shipping it may work. I am going to use my nipples today on a bucket. Any thoughts on training them to use it?

Hi all, enjoying reading everyone's thoughts on nipple watering systems. Love the different set ups everyone is using. To me, after emptying and filling traditional waterers for months....it's a no brainer. Nipples are the way to go for simplicity and convenience. I was fortunate to have a friend in Arkansas that raised over a million chickens for a large meat producer. He closed his operation and 1,800' of commercial nipples. He gave me 50' of piping, nipples, regulator, etc.. all I had to do was mount it and run water hose to regulator. However, I was set to buy a similar system from farmtek for around 140.00 $. I just didn't want the hassle of having to fill bottles or buckets. This way the girls have a constant supply of clean water at their beak-tips. Just thought i share my experience. below is a photo of my set up. Thanks, Erik

Has anyone ever tried placing the nipples in the SIDE of a bucket. I'm thinking I'd like to raise the bucket up off the floor, but not hanging it. I think it would be best in this case to have the nipples along the side. Picture a 5 gallon bucket propped up on a concrete block or two.

All poultry nipple drinkers are designed to be operated in a straight up and down position. A horizontal situation that you are considering will leak profusely.
Also - using concrete blocks may impede you ability to adjust the drinker height to the correct elevation.

If you are looking for something in the side of a bucket. I designed a pail with waterer cups on the side. I do not sell it but you could easily create the same thing.

For that one, I used a 2 gallon with one cup but it would work with pretty much any setup as long as you seal it well.

I have a 5 gallon bucket on a concrete block that has two nipples hanging out the bottom and it's working fine. I have the nipples positioned so that they are an inch or so away from the block and the girls drink out of them just fine. Probably around 1/3 the bucket hangs off the side of the block. I keep it filled pretty good to avoid having it fall off.
