i would start with a small set up first to see if they and yourself are going to like it then a bigger one later as for inside the coup i go with 5 gal bucket w 3 in the bottom that way it doesnt take up much roo and i can easily remove for claening but if build it right you can make it quite easy to maintain just do some searching and reasearch you will get a lot of ideas
i do that then blend them together to my application
also i almost forgot before you commit to a total nipple sstem think of how to heat it for winter !!!
i drain my pvc pipe system in late fall and use 5 gal buckets with tank heaters for the winter if it gets toooo clod the nips will freeze so check them often
i have a heated dog bowl in each coup as well for a safety
dont use fishtank heaters some will explode if water level gets too low and most ive tried to use in the past have failed
the heated dog dish is a reliable easy winter plan just have to rinse a few times a week
then in spring to summer back to the other
do research do some scetching and alot of thinking and planning and you will get one that works for you
Where Did You Order Yours? I Also Got A Submersable Heater From Ifa, 500 Watt. I Laid A Tile In The Bottom Of The Bucket And Put The Heater On The Tile. The Cord Runs Out Of The Edge Of The Lid And So Far We Have Clean Water And No Ice!!
