Does anyone use the nipple water drinkers?

Just bought 4 on ebay for 8.85 shipped from a US seller. The cheaper priced ones are coming from china. The nipples look exactly the same... I just didn't want to wait the 3 weeks to get them from china since I'll be getting my girls *hopefully* next week.

i have two 5gal buckets with three of the nipples in each but havent seen the chickens use them had the roo using it when i was holding him but thats the only time. anyone have any tips to train them

does anyone know of a ratio between number of birds per number of nipples? im wanting to set something up like this and am looking for a few more details in the planning stage.

From what I have read one nipple will work for 8 to 10 hens. I am no expert but that seems to be the ratio.

I've heard of a slightly higher ratio of 1 nipple to 4 hens, but I don't know from personal experience yet. I'm going to have 4 hens, and put 2 nipples in the coop and 2 in the run. It gets absurdly hot here in the summer so I wanted to make sure the hens stay hydrated. I'm going to keep a little wading dish in the run when it's hot too in case they need to take a dip.

We are new to raising chickens and have been using a round gallon watering thing that we purchased from TSC. We would like to switch them to the nipple system. Will this be hard for the chickens to find their water? Or will they know to go to the nipple?

I use four nipple on my outside run in a 30" length of 2" pvc and 2 nipples in the bottom of a heavy gallon jug in the House. They will pick up on it quickly, the shinny nipple is an attractant. I also have on in the cap of a 20oz coke bottle for the baby chicks. I put it in when they were 3 days old and they use it.
