Does greenish tinged coelom fluid mean infection?

Houston, I am pleased to report Lucky's crop was just about empty this morning, and she did not seem to have fluid in her abdomen. She also had her regular voice. I’m so happy!

She did not seem to want to eat, however. Not even the baby bird formula poured over damp feed. The formula is fresh today and the damp feed is not, so maybe that’s it. I’ll leave it out today and then throw out what’s left at the end of the day. After watching her peck at the empty yogurt cup from yesterday, I went and got another cup of nonfat Greek yogurt and she came running over for it. She must associate the yogurt with feeling better. I hope she doesn’t eat the whole thing herself. LOL.

It seemed Lucky might not be eating much, and she’s sort of “over” damp feed and baby bird formula, so I brought some cooked farro to the roost last night. They loved it and everybody got some. Lucky ate to her hearts content. Unfortunately, it was sitting there in a big wad in her crop this morning, so I tubed 35mL of plain, warm water and broke it up with my fingers. We have a significant storm today, so they are all hanging out in the coop. This is not ideal, since the main part, where they hang out on stormy days, is only 25 square feet. The run has a pitched tarp over the hardware cloth top and I still have those hilarious white/clear tarps on part of one side, but they still don’t want to be out.

At least Lucky’s voice is still good. I think she’s a bit thinner (sharper keel bone), which makes sense if she was not digesting properly. This could be a good thing, as I think she might have been too fat before. I just hope she doesn’t get skinny. Overall, I think the old chick is still doing pretty well, all things considered. 😊

Hi, everyone. Merry Christmas! Thought I’d give a Lucky update. I finally saw her eat regular chicken feed today. I also treated them to some reduced fat butter milk poured over the top of the crumble and she seem to really love it. Her behavior is completely normal, but I thought she was off her feed for a while. Here she is with her mates right now.

I know I should let this thread die, but I can’t help myself. I am just so pleased with how well Lucky is doing. I’m wondering if the blockage was actually her primary issue and not secondary. She’s been doing so well ever since we finally got her unclogged.

Are you sure that's the same chicken?! She looks amazing!
