Does my chicken have mareks disease?

If any of you can please help me I would be so grateful! He doesn’t have any respiratory symptoms and his eyes seemed ok. Just went puffy then paralyzed and then breathing hard. Seems like there’s a lump by his throat. Tried tepox 48 tried amtyl 500. No improvements. Don’t think he will make it but if I can learn from this and find a way to treat it I would be stoked.

Oh no! Poor guy! I don’t know much about Marek’s, but hopefully someone with more experience will be able to help (wish I could be of more help ). Could it be an obstruction or maybe an allergic reaction to something? Or maybe an insect bite?

Hi sounds too sudden to be Mareks. Could have swallowed a spider or cockroach. Chickens are supposed to bash their food before eating it, but sometimes they gulp it whole. Treatment for that is to carefully place small bits of warm lard to the side of throat (not down the airway which is in the middle). Lard is supposed to melt down the sides of the throat and coat the bug. It did not work for me, bird couldn’t breathe. Friend told me the cockroach probably damaged an air sac. I’m sorry you had this happen.
