I am glad you can take comfort that he died at home. His story was certainly one of valour. Poor little mate.

Sorry for the loss. He looked so pale and unhappy. I hate to see sick children or animals. I am fortunate that my girls can walk my lot and no attacks...yet.
Good luck re-stocking the flock.

Well he did love to protect his yard...god help you if you were an inferior turkey passing by or deer trying to drink from the pond. He would be puffed up so fast getting them away from everyone. It was quite funny watching him chase those deer. It was funny because tuesday evening I was walking trough the yard and seen a few wild turkey feathers a a few of his and was like there goes gobbles.
Luckily I have one male poult of his that I can tell of and a few younger poults in the basement so hopefully one will be half as awesome as he was.

... He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on." ...

Ben Franklin understands...

RIP to a fine yard comrade.

Oh I am so sorry to hear he passed. He looked like the fight was out of him in those photos. Please, you must show them to the neighbor. She had things like that happen to her but, it sure didn't make her do anything to prevent it. I feel so badly for you and all you lost, just feel sick.

You have no control over a dog running loose - we have them here all the time. The people just stand there yelling "come back here, come back here." like the dog is actually going to stop on a dime and give up all his fun for them. Especially when the know they'll get the poo kicked out of them if they do return.
