I am thinking of getting a puppy - wondering what breed I should get?? If you have a suggestion other than what is on the poll - please speak up! As you probably noticed I'm looking for a large breed dog!

Here's what I'm looking for in a dog:

Plenty of grooming work to do
Friendly - okay with new people - NO biting
Plenty of energy
If you're looking for a puppy that has alot of energy and requires alot of grooming, a husky is the way to go. We purchased ours 10 years ago and she's still a puppy at heart. Pandora gets along with our French Bulldog and anyone who comes to visit us.

We are currently looking to rescue a chow chow, though, since we've had 2 previously, and love the breed. That's another type that requires alot of grooming, but lacks the energy that you seem to be looking for.

First off your never going to get a puppy that isnt bity at first. They all will nip. No matter what. I have 2 Goldens that need plenty of exercise a day and training. The shedding is never ending and i bath once a week. 2 hours walks arent good enough for my male, he has a super high energy and prey drive. After about 3 hours of running he tires out. But he is happy with a hour of fetch and a hour walk.
Any dog on your list can do what you want but you have to have the time and be patient with the dog.
Another thing Never ever get 2 puppies at once. Wait atleast until the other pup is a year old or 2 to be better.

Would a huskie train well for a hunting/ shed finding dog?
Husky have not been bred to hunt or search. they are known for being difficult to train, escape artists and have a very high prey drive/ unreliable off leash

border collies are another breed you could research they are easy to train and high energy but don’t have any too difficult instincts (I can’t find the right word 😆)

and Labradors as well, they are very easy dogs that are quite versatile
