Dog thread!🐾

Do those others do the health testing and titling though? Anyone can throw two dogs together.
You will find in places where dog breeding is prevalent they have vets that specialize in litters from breeders. They will check each pup, do shots, and give a health certificate for 50 bucks. Health testing isn't alot if you are in the loop.

Last dog I remember my parents buying was a cocker spaniel with like 18 champions in the recent pedigree and a bunch of certifications but those pups still sold for 250 vs the 750 a show person would demand

I agree. There's no better role model for herd etiquette than mom, however. Just
@fluffycrow They also need to bond to there herd. Instinct is strong in a working line lgd

because they stay with mom doesn't mean they don't get to be with a flock/herd. I totally agree with you that the instinct is trong, although a lot of people on BYC would probably not. It is my belief that some LGD lines have lost some if their instincts

Lots of times there is a big difference in the common acceptable way things are done and the ideal way things are done.
8 weeks might be acceptable but its not ideal for your future furry family member.

But you can look that up. don't take my word for it
I didn’t say it was ideal???? I even said I agreed it was a little bit early… but that doesn’t mean a breeder is completely shit because of that alone if everything else checks out.

That’s not the kind of health testing I’m talking about. I’m talking about OFA or PennHip scores for hips and elbows at least, cardiac, eyes , etc. on the parents not the puppies. And that is very expensive

100% there are lines with no(very little) herding ability naturally and unfortunately that's bad breeding. Misguided people that got the "cull" pups that didn't do what came naturally and bred them for pet purposes.

Hey guys! I'm hoping to get a puppy soon. I've been looking at this one breeder, Denzil's Goldens. https://denzilsgoldens.com/

Does anyone think they look good? I've been able to have good communication with them which is positive, they’re very kind about responding and are open to me visiting before filling out any applications.
The pup will either be an ESA or PSD (Psychiatric Service Dog) for myself. I’ll be doing basic obedience training and then working with a trainer for the more specialized training
That's awesome lemon! I'm so happy for you! I'll have to look some more at the website soon

I can drive 20 minutes and there is a dog auction. At this dog auction I can buy both backyard bred dogs and show dogs with all the medical testing you can imagine, field tested, akc registered and pay nearly nothing. My recent rescue was bought for 20 dollars at that auction, she's an akc maltese who was used for breeding. The lady I got him from also recently bought an akc chihuahua male for just 5 dollars.

I don't think herding has a lot to do with this. No LGD breeds that come to mind also herd their stock
