It's possible, but it could also just have been someone who wore a large jacket scared her. Dogs, not just rescues, reacting like that to certain clothing and people is very common. My first Boston bit someone jumping while wearing a backpack. Luna currently barks like crazy if someone is carrying something large. But I know Luna can very easily become scared of little things (like USB cables touching her) so we can't assume someone did something absolutely horrible to her in the past.

I don't think they were completely horrible to her but them trying to teach bite work is a possibility because they also had a very dominant male who they did do it with but didn't do it right so he learned to bite people.

Would the previous owners trying to teach a dog bitework and protection but didn't know what they were doing and with a dog without the proper temperament for it cause the dog to freak out when they see a person in a big bulky coat that could resemble a bite work jacket?

Yes absolutely. It can scare a dog if the previous owner scared them with it

Yeah, they sent her to a trainer and ditched her when they found out she was going to have puppies, the trainer suspected that the man abused her but we can't be sure of it.

You take some of the best dog photos I've seen. Stinky too. I think my favourite of yours was one of those where Pepsi was running through the slightly frozen field. Looked truly magical
