Donald!!! - Gone without a trace…

Ya can catch a Coyote with a snair? - I have parachute cord here, lot's of…
A coyote would chew that off, they chew 1/8th steel cord off too

That's the tragedy: They were locked up the whole night! I briefly went outside in the morning and released the door-lock. It is connected to a long rope, so i can open the door from my patio - i am the laziest person in the world! If i can, i make a computer do my work for me…
They did not came out immediately, which happens sometimes when it is cold or windy. So the Coyote must have snatched Donald in broad daylight close to the house…
That's scary! And as i wrote, those are problem coyotes… I won't leave the house without a knife now.
better be ablle to stab 5 at once, They attack in groups

I told you to get a gun! My husband, who's the expert in everything guns, says get a rifle that shoots 357's with iron sights.
The shotgun came up as a method of defense for dummies: We both have never handled a firearm and with a shotgun you just pump, hold it in the direction of what you want to shoot and pull the trigger. One of the balls will hit the target and the loud kaboom will scare the cr@p out of any other intruder.

Do you see anything on your game cam?

Depending on what gauge you get you can also blow out your shoulder, so be careful.

I like shot guns but getting a coyote close enough to use one is harder

We use larger rifles and get them in feilds

I just saw your post. I’m so sorry. If it was a coyote check with your state - in VA we have some years where there’s actually a bounty on Coyotes bc we have so many. But yeah you’re going to have to beef up your predator proofing and lock them in. Whatever it was will be back tonight for the rest of your flock. :(
I wanted to improve security of my coop today, but my wife and i had to extinguish a grassfire that suddenly broke out on our property:

We had burned a pile of cardboard boxes last week when it all was soaking wet outside! And today something ignited the dry grass around the fireplace, so we both ran out with shovels…
My coop isn't Coyote proof at all: Chicken-wire instead of hardware-cloth and the door will not withstand any stronger predator, anything that climbs can just climb over the fence…
Brave Limpy is guarding the girls at the moment. The radio is louder than normally and all the outside lights are on. I am monitoring the DuckyCam and the pitchfork is leaning at the patio door. I can throw that thing 10m (30') like a spear and the tines are pointy like pencils.

So the stainless steel wire would work better?
When i was young i worked as a mail-man during the summer holidays, being the »natural enemy of every dog« i learned a thing or two. I was attacked by two German Shepards once. They did not make it… I'm the kind of guy who instinctively acts when my life is threatened - after everything is over i get the shock reaction.

Thats awesome! And yeah there was a girl in my hometown eaten by coyotes on a walking trail... Eaten not attacted.

Yeah they can chew through small steel cord, 5/8th aircraft cable works

There are some amazing trappers here that snair bears with 3/4 inch wire rope
