Donald!!! - Gone without a trace…

Ok, i didn't know that! So i need to put an electric fence on my infinite wish-list…
My wife saw two Coyotes a while ago roaming our property, could they be the culprits?
If yes, we have already considered to arm ourselves, but we both have no experience with weapons. What would be best to defend against Coyotes? A shot-gun with pump-action?

I told you to get a gun! My husband, who's the expert in everything guns, says get a rifle that shoots 357's with iron sights.

I'm right there with you! Thanks to my dog, I haven't had any problems with the foxes or fischers, but I've caught and put down several raccoons.

Our sweet old Anatolian Shepherd took care of the possums and raccoons and I sure wish she was still here. I heard coyotes absolutely screaming very nearby when I put the ducks to bed last night. It was freaky! If Honeybear was still with us she would have chased them off. Unfortunately, she got her angel wings a month ago. Our border collie got so scared he ran to the house!

I have a rottweiler that chases everything away. Even hawks.

Honeybear used to stay in the duck run with them. The ducks loved her and she loved them and was in full protect mode. I miss her so much!

At the moment i would use the shovel for the first step too! Spoke with the neighbors and these freaks have killed all around the valley: 15 chickens in their coop, a newborn lamb, a goat and another duck. If i see them i will beat them dead!

Takes a wise man to trap coyotes
Not because its hard but becuase its way easier than hunting them.

We used to make snairs from aircraft cable and catch big coyotes in cape breton.

My grandfather used to tie a soup bone to a string, put it out in the yard and tie the string to a pot on the fridge in the kitchen through the window... It would wake him up and he would go shoot it. Love my redneck roots

Why have you not been locking your ducks up? I am heart broken for you and for your flock making sure they are secured st night is their only protection.

That's the tragedy: They were locked up the whole night! I briefly went outside in the morning and released the door-lock. It is connected to a long rope, so i can open the door from my patio - i am the laziest person in the world! If i can, i make a computer do my work for me…
They did not came out immediately, which happens sometimes when it is cold or windy. So the Coyote must have snatched Donald in broad daylight close to the house…
That's scary! And as i wrote, those are problem coyotes… I won't leave the house without a knife now.

I just saw your post. I’m so sorry. If it was a coyote check with your state - in VA we have some years where there’s actually a bounty on Coyotes bc we have so many. But yeah you’re going to have to beef up your predator proofing and lock them in. Whatever it was will be back tonight for the rest of your flock.

We have a group of guys that come up where I live and hunt them down every year.
