Don't tell the wife, I'm growing fodder in the 2nd bathroom!

If you eat the barley sprouts I'd like to know what you think of them.

I have not thought much about growing barley sprouts for my consumption. I get a variety of mixed sprouting seeds from the local Harmony Food Co-Op and they taste good - but they don't have any barley seeds in them. I like sprouts with a little kick. If barley tastes like grass, probably not.

If you're unhappy with how much space you get to work in, and you're hiding something from her because you think or know it's going to make her unhappy, I'm not so sure things are working out well for you. Two reasonable adults should be able to come to a solution that would leave both parties satisfied.
Think of it this way: is she going to be more upset if you politely ask her if you can grow chicken feed in the bathroom, or when she finds out that you've hidden something from her because you think she's going to be unreasonable about it? Would you like to have her hiding things from you instead of asking you about them?
I would venture to guess that this was meant as more of an "entertainment" thread than a "super serial" thread. Look at how many people are enjoying themselves?

@Fishkeeper, I love your youthful optimism on relationships and marriage. Maybe the younger generation has better expectations from their partners. But, since you asked so many questions, I will attempt to answer them from my point of view....

"If you're unhappy with how much space you get to work in, (not unhappy, just need to "borrow" a little space in the bathroom for a few months this winter)

and you're hiding something from her because you think or know it's going to make her unhappy, (the thought of her letting me do this would bother her more than me)

I'm not so sure things are working out well for you. (Well, maybe, but then it has not worked out well for us for 31+ of marriage).

Two reasonable adults should be able to come to a solution that would leave both parties satisfied. (I never said we were reasonable adults, I only stated we were married).

Think of it this way: is she going to be more upset if you politely ask her if you can grow chicken feed in the bathroom, (Yes)

or when she finds out that you've hidden something from her because you think she's going to be unreasonable about it? (She will probably be upset, but if I am forced to remove the fodder tower, then she will consider it a win for her and be even more happy as she put me back in my place.)

Would you like to have her hiding things from you instead of asking you about them?" (Oh goodness, that happens all the time and I pretend not to notice.)

So, there it is. If/when I get caught in this transgression, I now have a list of excuses to offer thanks to the feedback from the good people here on BYC forums. In the end, if the excuses fail me (most likely), I will have to tote the fodder tower back out into the garage and it will probably cost me a make up dinner date with the wife at our favorite restaurant. Another win for her. That will make her happy.

And I will be forgiven until my next nefarious caper..... :yesss:

 What? You don't think this is a matter of life and death on marriage relationships being discussed on a chicken forum?

@gtaus I always love to see your threads pop-up! Your good nature gets everyone going :clapBy the way, I vote #4. Or Roomy's response :lau

Thank you in advance for allowing me to throw you under the bus along with many other good souls here on BYC forums. I need more people like you guys in my life. Your sacrifice is much appreciated. :D

@gtaus You can tell your wife that you are working on some kind of new, living carpet for humans and for animals... and that it can be a very good profit one day. ;)

Good luck, Godspeed!

Thank you. Finally, someone's getting us back on the subject of potential excuses. I think we are up to....

10) That's not fodder for the chickens! I'm in the early stages of working on an organic green carpet that brings the outside freshness into the house. I'm thinking it would be best for your sun room, honey. Could be a real money maker for us!

UPDATE ON PROGRESS 10/4/2019: I started soaking a bin of oat seeds this morning. AND, I also mixed up a bin of half oats, half barley seeds to start soaking tomorrow. I guess I'm just kind of creative that way....

Anxious to see results of expanded sprouting and fodder experiment with oats.

Stay tuned.... :pop
