Double Yolk Egg Fertilzed

I know exactly how you feel. I said the same thing when ours didn't make it on the last day. At least you have other chickies to look forward to!

It's ok.

We've all had it happen where there was this one special egg we really wanted to hatch and it just didn't. Just think of the little Ovanauts returning to the mother ship instead. Next time you have a double yolker, put it in the bator. We'll all come back to watch.

Awww thanks everyone. I really need the uplift. It was just too sad for me this morning. I guess if I did end up with another fertile double yolk, I probably would try again. I just cannot help but wonder if the temp drop last night is what got the one that was viable. uggghhhhh darn cold fronts.

Good luck emvickery with your twins. Start a thread and keep us posted on it.

oooohhh, don't be sad yet!! check out the youtube thing from walkswithchickens! It's fascinating, and she shows EXACTLY how she did it! She winds up with a couple of hatched babies that look just fine.

I still don't know how they turned out after that, but helping them out of the egg didn't look too hard. She was really careful and slow.

You go girl! You can do it. . . .

well, bad maggie!! I thought you hadn't done it yet. Now I need to learn to read the whole thread before I go jumping in there!

Try it again anyway! You've learned a lot this time. Use it!

And thanks for the thread. We've learned a lot, too!

I am sorry! I had silkies in the bator last week and they didn't hatch and they were only single chicks, I was so bummed. I sort of know how you feel, sorry!

I am going to clean out the bator when the last 2 eggs hatch saturday and I am putting in 24 BO eggs and 18 WR eggs. No double yolks in this batch, but I will start a new thread when I set them in the bator.
