hahaha at least you are not hearing ficticious chirps in your sleep like i am.

NOPE nothing yet this morning but I am hoping in about 4 to 5 hours we should see pipping.

DH did a real funny last night.
He always puts the water in the coffee pot and the coffee and filter so it is all ready to go the next morning.

Well we also use the coffee pot to make our iced tea. So last night, he puts the water in the back of the pot and gets ready for bed.

I post here before daylight. Go into the kitchen and turn on the pot. Soon we have a nice hot pot of coffee. In the meantime I am rolling out some biscuits to go with a skillet of gravy and he comes stumbling thru. He grabs us both a cup and pours. He sits in the recliner, I am at the oven putting the biscuits in.

I turn around pick up my cup, go to take a sip, I smell yes you guessed it....TEA!!!!.

He was going to pour the whole pot out. OHHHH NOOOOOOO
I grab the sugar and add a teaspoon to my cup. I love hot tea as well as coffee. He dont. But my DH is drinking it so it dont get wasted.

Awwww that is true love for sure.

i don't think it is weird that we get so excited over someones hatching eggs.. is it?????? never have tried hatching still new at this ... but just wait till next spring hehehehe. i will make a great grandma to newly hatched chickies

Happi - you might have missed my post. Thought it should be said again, they probably can't pip. If you wait til they do... they won't.

The muscle spasm that causes the chick to pip is a matter of space as well as movement, the neck and legs have to have room to do it. Guess what twins don't have?

I found this in a post on the FAQ index. Nifty chicken has it in a list.

To save time for anyone who wants to see it, here's the youtube address. It was posted last year by needmorechickens! when she had a double yolk to pip. She spent ten minutes on youtube hatching the babies out, and you could see from the video that they would never have gotten out on their own. walkswithdog may be right.

hope this works. If not, it's in the FAQ index, nifty chicken's second post, "Notable Archives."

It's ten minutes long, but well worth watching!

I see that I repeat myself a lot on this post. I'm just too excited to think straight:D

I'd love to hear from needmorechickens! about how those twins are doing now????

OHHHHH crappyola WALKS...That is NOT what I wanted to hear this morning. Guess I am going to pip this egg myself. It is only 55 degrees in the house this morning and we dont have heat, so I will have to wait for it to heat up some.

OK, it is 7 15 a.m. I will pip and zip the egg myself at 10 a.m.

Cher is right, they can't pip. It would be 1 in a million for that to happen, probably much worse odds than that. And knowing exactly when to help is the problem. Too early, the veins aren't retracted and it can bleed out or the yolks won't be absorbed, etc, etc. Not a good situation.
