I think the chick-in-a-cup experiment would be excellent in conjunction with the double yolker one! Would really be excited to see someone do this...

I was actually thinking of doing it and already have the incubator and supplies mapped out I didn't want to steal the op's thunder.

I believe the turning is most important when the embryos are in the earlier stages of incubation if im remembering correctly

Yes in the first 7 days.
I spent all summer researching chicken incubation and embryo development.

Fun Fact: The sex of the embryo is determined at day 4.

I’m super excited too!! Getting the last things in place right now, the biggest thing is the oxygen supply which is hard to get but I’ve got a way! I’ll definitely be posting that project when I start!

That’s kinda why I didn’t wanna post the idea but I figured people would come up with it on their own anyway lol. I’m just trying to get my hands on an oxygen supply at the moment, other than that I have most of the supplies ready. Gonna start it mid January because I’m pet sitting till then

Probably spring. I need to get fertile eggs from somewhere first because my parents disapprove of breeding our layers.
And need a dual purpose breed so the roosters are worth something.

Makes sense they’re reluctant on breeding but still too bad! I bet it would be awesome to know the birds your little babies came from

Hi lovely people! Last candling and weighing today!!

I literally just finished and have to organize my notes for the official update but just had a question that I thought I’d put out there while I work.

The babies seem to be losing a touch more weight this week and their air cell has also grown a lot more, is this normal in the last week or did I keep humidity too low? Is it too late to up it a little bit, like will I hurt them by changing it now?

Also an interesting observation, but the eggs I suspect are DIS have a sort of yellow air cell, whereas the healthy eggs have a clear white air cell. Is this normal?
