Dreams of hatching... and THEY ARE!!!! page 7 pic heavy

I was up at 4:30 checking on the baby.
No changes, except she sounded tired and weaker.

I did some mild intervention, trying to unzip her. The picture doesn't show it, but she's in one of those torpedo-shaped eggs that's skinny.
If folklore is right, she's probably a he

souped up the humidity again before I left the house this morning, and she was peeping stronger and wiggling more. I'm hoping that means I did the right thing...

That's the only update I can give until lunchtime. Came to work early so I'd have time to drive home and check on the potential peeps for my lunch break.

DH thinks I'm crazy, after finding a flashlight under my pillow this morning. But how else was I gonna check the temp & humidity when I woke up during the night? You'd think he'd appreciate the courtesy of me not turning on the overhead light....

She peeps at me when I talk to her, so I'm already too attached to the fragile baby.
I left her tucked in damp paper towel, with the towel only covering the membrane but not her cute little beak. And one end in the cup of hot water so the towel will stay damp.

The cup with the towel hanging out was empty this morning, but the cup with the towel just inside of it was still full. So I guess the wicking action does work to increase humidity.
When I get home I'm gonna rig the other cup to wick water as well. Didn't think of it before I left the house.

Forgot to mention that I heard someone tapping when I added the water this morning. So she'll have a friend

Good new & bad news...

Bad news first: Little Silkie still not doing so good. She wiggles HARD and then pants just as hard afterwards. Still a little blood at the edge of the membrane, so I didn't want to intervene any more.

Good news: WOO HOO!!! An Ameracauna is almost all the way zipped!!!!! And LOUD! 2 more of them have pipped!
A Silver Spangled Hamburg has pipped!
And.... (trumpets bugle and drum roll please)...
One of Velvet's Blue Orp eggs pipped AS I WAS STANDING THERE!!!!!!!!! One minute smooth, next minute a HOLE. And I can see movement inside the hole!!!

And that's just the action that was facing up or on the side. There may be more I couldn't see. I am soooo excited (not like you can tell or anything. Or that this is really new to most of you).

I'm An Aunt....I'm An Aunt!!!!!!!!!

If she can hang in there until 5pm I will work with her somemore when I get home.
But I'm really hoping that hearing all the other peeping gets her motivated!!!
