I know!!!!! The suspense is killing me! Hang in there!!! Easier said than done.

Maybe some have waited on you. They do get tired and have to take little breaks. You'll be home soon.

Okay, I got home and found these in the bator:

Can you see them both?

The Silkie is still not doing well. After I take DD to church I'll come back in intervene. I did a little bit when I got here this afternoon. I was hoping that would motivate her to emerge. I peeled the membrane back from over her eye so she could see her clutch mates happily running around

And there was no blood!
But there was still a little from the bottom of the egg, so she clearly isn't quite ready yet.

Got the brooder set up and warming so when the Ameracaunas are dry and fluffy they can go in there. he yellow one is full of energy and climbing all over everybody. The blue one is smaller and quieter.

Just gently work on getting the shell chipped off. Works a lot better than going too slow and letting it die. With my egg, I just pulled it apart when it got to tired and the baby is doing good.

Wow. This has been the most AMAZING thing. We've been watching pipping and zipping and drying and fluffing.

OK. I intervened for Silkie and got her out of the shell. She's still alive and kicking, but barely. Still wet-looking and in the bator. She may make it, but no one here is giving her very good odds based on comparison with the others that have hatched.

We have 4 Ameracaunas in the brooder. At least, they all hatched out of green eggs. But one has a NAKED NECK!! Ugliest thing we've ever seen... So it's youngest DD's favorite, since it looks like her mutt egg is a goner.

The cats think we're taking dinner out of the oven and putting it into a warming tray...

The first Blue Orp has a wing out of the egg and nothing else. We think it's a self-defense manuever since Ostrich (DH's name for Naked Neck chick) was pecking on her. Looks like she's trying to fly right out of that egg.

I'm on the downstairs computer so I can't post pics at the moment. When I can drag myself away from the miracle of birth I'll add more photos of the brood.

AWWWWW!!!

I gave the Silkie a massage like I did for my kids when they were babies. Made her stretch her neck and wings and legs. She wasn't real responsive, and she has a red place on her butt that looks like innards coming out. When I laid her back in the bator she was so still that DH thought I should just throw her out. I said no, can't ever give up hope. Then he asked me not to cry when she died (HA!)

Teen DD came downstairs and was watching the blue orp flapping around in her egg. Then she called me over because the silkie had laid her head over the divider onto the blue orps egg! She's lifted her head several times since then.

And JUST NOW my first Blue Orp has hatched!!!!

That's so exciting!!!!!!

I'll be pulling for the little Silkie.

So those Ameraucanas just popped right out of there. Where did you get the naked neck?

I'm glad C has a chick to call her own, since the mutt didn't make it. Remember you can always put another mutt in w/ your next batch.

I know one of the 3 BO eggs are alive w/ dancing embryo. One has veining, but not sure about movement and the third is clear.

I can't wait to the the pics. OK, how many more need to pip or zip?

Come on Blue orp...fly on out of the egg.
