Wow. This has been the most AMAZING thing. We've been watching pipping and zipping and drying and fluffing.
OK. I intervened for Silkie and got her out of the shell. She's still alive and kicking, but barely. Still wet-looking and in the bator. She may make it, but no one here is giving her very good odds based on comparison with the others that have hatched.
We have 4 Ameracaunas in the brooder. At least, they all hatched out of green eggs. But one has a NAKED NECK!! Ugliest thing we've ever seen... So it's youngest DD's favorite, since it looks like her mutt egg is a goner.
The cats think we're taking dinner out of the oven and putting it into a warming tray...
The first Blue Orp has a wing out of the egg and nothing else. We think it's a self-defense manuever since Ostrich (DH's name for Naked Neck chick) was pecking on her. Looks like she's trying to fly right out of that egg.
I'm on the downstairs computer so I can't post pics at the moment. When I can drag myself away from the miracle of birth I'll add more photos of the brood.
