Okay so from what I've read, they aren't likely to go broody, they're good flyers, they're really affectionate, and pretty calm.. Did I miss anything basic? Mine would be a week old chick, when can you usually tell their gender? Sorry but I don't have a lot of time to read the whole thread right now.
Youve got the jist of it but dont let the good flying go to your head when free ranging. Theyd most likely be the ones to get nabbed by a predator because of their feather footed disposition. I dont allow them to free range unless im there. It'll b awhile before you can sex it. At least 2 months or a bit longer. Usually easier if you have other D'uccles the same age to compare comb and feather differences. And I have heard they are on the broody side of breeds. Even the roosters are very parent-like its amazing. My rooster will walk around and crow at an uncovered egg until a hen comes and sits haha. its a very loud annoying crow, not the regular crow.
