Anyone need some porcelain d'Uccle eggs??? My hens are crazy winter egg layers

I really like your chicks, they are pretty birds. The little roo is cute too.

I have four 2-3 month old Millie Fluer pullets that are already sqwatting when I go to grab them up. Does this mean they should lay eggs soon or what? The roosters have just began to crow too.

I figured that but I just thought I'd ask. Is this unusual for them to be doing that so early?

I find that unusual, since my hen started squatting right after she began to lay.

Maybe they were scared. Some of our hens that don't lay do that when someone scares them.

I think they may doing a submissive stance and are submitting themselves to you... like they would to a roo.

Maybe. I just can't wait till I can get eggs from them. They are from Bucheits which get their chicks from Ideal (I'm pretty sure) and the Roos have hardly any waddles. Not very good middle toe feathering but I have a Cochin bantam in the pen to work on that.

mine from ideal have excellent foot and middle toe feathering so maybe they get theirs from somewheres else, granted that doesnt make since since you are in texas and ideal is in texas. but i have not been disappointed in my d'uccles from them except for 2 having to much wattle.
