Okay! I'll do that.If he’s bleeding profusely pressure might help use a soft cloth like a wash cloth to apply pressure.
I would not give aspirin or any pain reliever for that matter. I have used corn starch to assist with stopping a small bleed. A large wound caked with corn starch or flour can lead to other problems though. I also try to use styptic powder on small wounds rather than corn starch or flour when I have it on hand.Someone told me to use cornstarch or flour if it doesn't stop bleeding. And give asprin for pain. The only asprin I have is adult
When I saw itn after work today, it looked like it was dripping down his leg. But I'm not sure if he was swimming before I saw him or what. I know he walked through a couple puddles. There was blood all over underneath him.@AshleyNicole06 how bad is he bleeding? Any chance for a emergency vet?
I'll have to grab some gauze tomorrow. I only found a tiny bit! Everything is closed now.I would not give aspirin or any pain reliever for that matter. If the wound is large packing with bandages would be a better option. Clean the wound, pack with clean gauze and then wrap gauze around the body and tape it secure. Then repeat daily for a few days, being gentle when cleaning. Bluekote (not sure of spelling) would be helpful too as a treatment when dressing/redressing the wound.
I feel like I would hurt him more If I did that.... I've never done itIf your feeling up to it it might be wise to clean it in warm water in the bath tub and pluck the feathers
If you wrap them like a burrito in a big blanket to limit movement and realy get a look to see how the wound is, if you can use small plyers or good tweezers and pluck the feathers 1 at a time about 3/4 of an inch back from the wound, so it had a bald spot at the wound
You always pluck with the grain, in the direction the feather is growing
Once the wound is open and visible its easier to coat in polysporin and wrap
