Duck Bumblefoot - how long?

That one my Runner had there wasn’t a scab either an after 7 days on antibiotics and Meloxicam I knew I had to get it out but it was hard so I knew the kernel was still in there. I’d ask the vet about this one.

I'd like to take a short video of it while I manipulate/squeeze it and see what you think. I don't think I can upload a video to BYC and don't necessarily want to put that on youtube. Can you IM me for a place to text a video? I'll do that when I treat her again later today if you don't mind. I'm waiting on a call back from the Vet now. I sent them an updated photo last night - he is out until today.

Oh my what a journey. I have one hen that has had bumble foot since I got her as an adult two years ago I tried antibiotics and surgery and neither worked. Shes four or five now and I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm not particularly emotionally attached to her, but I do want her to be comfortable and she's a great layer. However, constant vet appointments for an old hen are also a hard pill to swallow in terms of costs!

Then my favorite bird, a young and good layer, got bumblefoot. (She's in my profile pic.) Our journey is the same as yours... difficult giving syringe antibiotics. I miss more than I get it in her mouth. There doens't seem to be a significant improvement. I haven't been able to give epson salt baths. I'm so pressed for time on any given day so it's hard. I'm really hoping the antibiotics work!

I'm not advocating this is the best...or even a good method. But this is what spiking peas looks like. It takes time to set them up, and I've learned to slightly over fill the syringe from the start as a little gets lost on my fingers and once in a while she drops a spiked pea. Forgive the dirty hands and table - this is out in my workshop that all this nonsense happens. Best spot if the little poo rocket decides to launch into orbit while on my lap.

and as of this morning - The funny thing is, the bulk of the middle tow swelling is seen on the top of her foot. She is walking and acting totally normal - if you didn't see the swelling you'd never know at this point she had an issue.

Your a genius and dedicated. I'd snatch them up pry open the bill and do the syringe down the hole. lol

I feel your pain now - so happy this is the first time I've ever dealt with this. Read about it plenty and don't wish this on my worst enemy.

And the vet checked for a broken toe right? That's what happens with this bumble its like it encapsulates in an area and antibiotics won't touch it. Didn't you say you sent pics to the vet? I'm thinking if this isn't an injury, that this place is going to have to be opened to get the staff out.
