Duck has a problem!

Thanks for your information. I really appreciate it. I dyed her vent last night with food color and she did not lay an egg. I'd been wondering who's not been laying as I have 6 girls and the most eggs I get is 5. Anyway, my plan today is to give her a warm bath, wrap her in a towel with DH holding her and do a digital exam with lots of vaseline. I will also make sure she gets a real good dose of calcium gluconate while he's holding her down.
When you do the exam, keep in mind that the gizzard feels a lot like an egg. The gizzard is located on their left side, an egg is in the center. Be careful doing the exam in case the egg hasn't formed a shell yet.

The calcium dose I use is ~50 mg per pound of body weight.

I'm sorry but I just watched a show where a Duck internally laid a shelled egg and needed surgery to have it removed.

I was going to ask what show too... now I must look for this... a show with vets treating ducks sounds binge-worthy

I hope the lil girl can pass this egg today if that's what it is. Warning, when you feel for the egg internally, there's a good chance you will get pooped on. I hope you can help her :fl

I worked in surgery assisting doctors for 20 years and I've been up to my elbows in poop so I'm good with that. Just don't let me see rotten teeth or I'll pass out. Go figure!

Oh a good note.....I think......Eva seems perfectly fine today. She's running around normal, foraging, eating, drinking pooping. So, I have decided to just keep a real good eye on her before I jump off that sticking my finger up her butt curb. What does everyone think about that?
