Duck has leg issues

Update: She had been recovering for about a week or so, and I assumed it would be a good idea to let her back with the other ducks, but all the sudden she started coughing up blood. She regained the ability to walk partially, but now she’s back in the garage. Is it a lung issue?

I am sorry she is feeling unwell again. It could be one of two things. It could be a problem with her lungs. Or it is not coming from her lungs but instead her crop. If there is fluid in her lungs, you should be able to hear it when she breathes. put your ear up to her lungs and listen. Listen to one of your other ducks if you need a comparison. If the lungs sound normal, I would think it is not a lung issue. Other than treating with an antibiotic for a lung issue, I think you need to see a vet. If she ate something that is cutting her up inside causing internal bleeding, you would need a vet. A vet will be the best at accessing what is going on.

Update: She passed away this afternoon
There wasn’t anything left we could do. She started coughing up blood without end, and could barely breath. She was doing so good, only for her to fall back down.

We took her to the vet and the best option he gave was to put her down, so we took it. She lost 3 pounds in less than a day, she wasn’t going to make it. She was so scared, but she wouldn’t survive like this.

Rest in peace Liz, I’m sorry I couldn’t figure out how to save you. You were one of the best ducks I ever had, and I regret not doing more with you during the time you had left.
