So my 6 year old duck went broody, sat on eggs. One is hatching and it’s pretty chilly and rainy today. How long can she be gone and should I go get the baby? The nest is inside our duck coop. I have never hatched eggs before so I am panicking. Plus she is in with the general population since she chose their coop to nest in. Any words of advice are greatly appreciated

My instinct is that the duckling should go into an incubator or a very warm brooder. It's too cold. You can put it under mama at night once it's dry. Hopefully she accepts it.

How long has she been gone for?
I have acquired an incubator at good old Tractor Supply and moved the baby and eggs into it.

She was gone for an hour and I put her back in the coop, she’d look at the nest but not go near it. I had a security camera set up in there to watch. I ran to the store and got the incubator and put everyone in it. Not sure if any of the eggs will progress, 2 clearly have ducks in them.

she should be separated from the flock, leaving a baby in the nest while she is gone, left open to the other ducks is a recipe for disaster

What breed is she? Is she a first time mum?
I expect the hatching startled her and she has abandoned them. I definitely agree with your choice to take the babies away.
