I am the owner of two pekin ducks, Donald and Daisy.

I got them as a learning experience for my 2 year old son.

I have raised them from 3 day old hatchlings and they will be a year old in April. Daisy has laid eggs that I sell, but recently became broody and was sitting on a nest of about 13 real eggs and 5 "fake" eggs which I had put in there to keep her nesting in the same spot when I would collect eggs.

Daisy has gotten out of her broody mood since a possum raveged her nest about a week ago.

She is limping on her left leg and lays down in a resting pose a lot. She is eating normal and is the same weight. Her mate, Donald looks after her like a perfect gentleman and protects her from everything.

I just caught her and inspected her legs and there are no abrasions or visiblw wounds and I felt her thigh and leg and there seems to be no fractions or breaks.

Could she have sprained it?

Also, how can I move her nest to a protected area? Its a old dog run with a house that I can close them up in at night like I did before she started laying.

Any advice would be great. I am hoping to get an incubator and more ducks soon, though I am not going to let the flock get out of hand.

Can you check the bottom of her feet to look for signs of bumblefoot?

My Khaki Campbell Drake was doing the same a few mos ago. I think he was just hurt or injured. There were no visible fractures or anything. I picked him up and took him inside and gave him a massage to his body and legs and about a week later he was fine. Hope for the same for you.

I put a tiny dab of T-Relief on sprains. Epsom salt compresses can help, too. Epsom salt is a laxative, so make sure they don't drink the solution. Sprains can take quite a while to heal. I sometimes put a tiny bit of turmeric in their food (careful, it stains) as a natural anti inflammatory.

I'm more of a wait and see person and never give anything...Good advise though....

I've attached pictures of both her feet. The ankle(?) Part of her foot seems swollen on one of them. Which is the one she Is limping on. I believe its the left one? Again, I didnt see any visible wounds, and did not feel any fractures on both feet or legs.

Any ideas guys/gals?

Again, thank you all for posting and replying and for all the advice!
