Duck Incubation time.. (first timers)

That's not the air cell, just space that the embryo hasn't developed into yet. I can actually see the outline of the air cell in the fat end in that last picture

This is very exciting! I know the pic is a little fuzzy but I could see the heart beating! These were set on Wednesday Jan 31st and when I checked tonight I could see development in 9 out of 12!

Trying more pictures these dont look right to me, looks like the air sac is on the pointy end of the eggs, and are not small at all. Two of them look like the last pic where the clear goes all the way from one end to the other. @Pyxis @WVduckchick @casportpony

If I may offer a tip... Your light looks nice and bright, so that's great! But if you were able to decrease the size of the beam, you will see the air cell more visibly. (and it could be just the pictures, so ignore this if what you are seeing is fine on your end)

I took a piece of foam craft paper, but there are many ways to do this. Thin cardboard, thick paper, etc. Cut a small hole, and position the hole over the center of the flashlight beam, then tape it around the flashlight. I have also used a scrap piece of thin fake leather. Something soft also gives a little protection in case you bump the egg in the dark too. (at least it helps for klutzy me.. lol)

Thank you, i have two flashlights. One that came with the incubator, has a funnel like piece for the egg to sit on. The other I bought separate for incubation. You can shrink the beam down on it, I have not tried shrinking the light beam down, maybe that will help.

I try to always be open to suggestions... lol I had read of several simular things, just had not gotten around to trying them.
I seem to be having little trouble seeing into the white eggs and was very excited about how easy to candle the duck eggs are!

geogreywolf how is your hatch going?? I did a slightly early candle at day 6 and had to pull 3 out of 12 that were bloodrings.....the rest looked great with nice spider veins!

I have 3 eggs with veins, the other 8 were thrown away. I did on the recommendation of someone put my rouens eggs in there but they are on 3 days so too early.

i was excited to see that so many of mine are fertile as I had not witnessed my boys taking care of business.... I am excited to see how well they hatch.
