Duck with Swollen Ankle

I got the baytil though the mail so I'm sure it's fine. You must be in Gwinett county which is about 1 1/2 hours away.

Today she is walking trying to get away from me, but she is putting her legs kind of far apart so she waddles a lot and is unsteady on her feet. Doesn't look like there is any pain in her foot.

They don’t show pain like us being prey so we can never know how much pain they are in. Hopefully you can get an antibiotic for her and also you can give children’s ibuprofen @casportpony can give the dosage thanks K.

So today I brought her in again and sometimes she does this thing where she sort of shivers... but I don't think she is cold.

I think her feet are stronger as she does stand up, but still not walking/limping. The swelling looks pretty much the same.

Still eating, drinking, pooping (though it feels like not quite as much as before).

@casportpony , I don't know if you're still following this thread - haven't seen your replies in a while but I would really appreciate it if you could let me know the dosages for the Ibuproofen and also let me know what you think of her progress (as well as the condition of her poop from a few days ago! ).

Looking at the pics at the very begging of this post it looks like bumble is covering her whole let...which means infection has spread all the way to her leg and cause inflammation. Unless you know what those spots on her legs are I am going with bumble....

No the spots are actually from laying... when they get older as they lay their orange legs become black just like their beaks. But yes I do believe the infection spread but their is no outside bumble anymore.

I honestly don’t think she will make it if you don’t treat her with antibiotics. And if that’s not something you are willing to do, I would switch to palliative care. And if she is in pain, I would put her down. But that’s a last case scenario.

She is doing better though - standing now but doesn't seem like she has much strength in her feet. I DMed @DuckyDonna regarding Baytril which is definitely an option I'm considering. I'm not sure what you mean by palliative - right now I've been doing daily soaks and applying a salve/poultice with oregano, turmeric, honey, and oils.
