Duckling Thread!

I like to use turkey starter for my ducks and I add yeast to the feed. Probably over kill, but I don't think they'll eat more of the yeast than they need. Using that method, haven't had any issues. Last year, I could only get chick starter adding fish meal, alfalfa and yeast, still had tons of issues.

No they can’t get Mareks. I’d get your newly hatched duckling out of there. And yay on the zip come on Patches!! Did you check temps in the brooder and have you given them some of the vitamins ? What did you get?

I forget the name I’m at a restaurant I will get the name when I get home. I will see if I have a separator to separate the ducks apart. I have given them the vitamins it’s in their water and I got tons of veggies that supply vitamins like: carrots, zucchini, squash, broccoli and I think that’s it.

Thoughts @Miss Lydia but I would definitely add some brewers (nutritional) yeast and look for a game bird starter blend. Chick starter is low on methanine (sp) and niacin as well as protein and I'm pretty sure the amino acid profile is a bit off. I had the help of a nutritionist to adjust my chick starter and it didn't go well (he warned me it wouldn't). Turkey starter is higher in protein that ducks need, but all the other factors are pretty close. I add the brewers yeast because the niacin is just a tad low in the turkey starter.

I had not thought about this, guess it's time to go back to tractor supply store. They do love to see me come in the store
