Duckling Thread!

Source? I kinda don’t think that’s true....
Sadly it is. Don't know what source-- my friend texted it to me. But there are charts online:

This says they are on watch, while others say they are Threatened:

More threatened...

And my friend texted me they are endangered. At least not critical like the fat, cute little Aylesbury.

SAVE THE AYLESBURY :(

Gals are getting huge. Biggest one weighed yesterday is just shy of a lb. As fast as they are growing I wouldn't be surprised if she is at a lb now. They were so tiny when they arrived! Day 1 vs day 19. :love

Here are 6 of them that I still have from that batch so you can see what they look like. They were born July 24, 2018. These pics where taken late last fall. They are my favorite colors! The bottom 2 are drakes and the rest are hens. View attachment 1729141 View attachment 1729142 View attachment 1729143 View attachment 1729137

Here is what their parents look like. The drake is the one in the top picture. The 2 hens sat on the eggs and raised the ducklings together. Thankfully they didn't fight over the ducklings and had no problems raising them together! :)

I'm afraid these sources don't prove it. The Cayuga does not get pouched because it is not a wild animal. If people were shooting domestic property, well, our country would have a lot of problems at hand. Unfortunately, it's not an easy fix either. The Cayuga is not on the endangered species list because it is not an endangered species, it is an endangered breed, however, more people must breed and have interest in it.
