Hi y'all. I noticed a lot of chicken owners like to catch and feed their chickens earthworms. I've also read that you can't give them earthworms because earthworms can often carry coccidiosis because the worms eat eggs and then the eggs hatch in your chicken. So which is correct? Can you feed them earthworms or not? I'm getting mixed emotions. Thanks y'all!

I won't feed them earthworms but if they scratch them up themselves I can't really stop them so I worm them once or twice a year.

Mine have always eaten worms. I purposefully place plywood in the run and periodically flip it over to expose the worms and other bugs underneath. It's a free-for-all!

It's true that earth worms can give your chicken worms but they give an excellent source of protein, methionine and lysine for poultry.
So I try to give my chickens lots of worms.
