that is so awesome your chick look like hawks to you too. I don't care what others think of the EE to me they are my fav chicks :) :

I don't know much about what others think but I have 2 EE hens and I love them and the blue eggs. Their feathers are sooo pretty. I also have a golden comet hen(not very friendly or pretty but lays great), a speckled sussex hen( she is my most beautiful hen right now), 2 barred rock hens. My 8 week old chicks are 3 barred rocks, 4 black australorps, and 4 EEs. I love my mixed flock! What do you have?

Hi! We are fairly new chicken parents. We got 6 straight run EE's chicks at TSC about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We strongly suspect about 4 or 5 are cockerels.:( Our question is, can we peacefully keep all of them if they're in their own coop/run if we don't put any pullets in with them? The pullets/hens will be in their own coop/run close by. Thank you for any advice or suggestions you can give us.

I have 4 silkie roos in my coop with hens, and they get along fine. You could have a bachelor coop, just keep them busy, and give them enough space. Boredom can be problematic.

Thanks. We're going to try that. Wish us luck! We did read the chicken toys article & took notes!:)
