I have a young Easter Egger hen, who is nine months old and started laying about three months ago. For about the first six weeks she laid about five green or blue eggs a day. About a month to six weeks ago, I suddenly quit getting any green or blue eggs. I have seen her going in to the nesting boxes, but find no green or blue eggs. Could she be laying brown eggs now? Sorry if this is a really really dumb question, but I am flummoxed. I am in Texas where temps are not outrageously cold, and the rest of my flock is still laying.

Egg laying is not related to temperature. It's related to the amount of light they get. Winter time has less light in Maine and Texas. Every breed of chicken is a little different. Even sisters can be different.

im not saying anything about temperature. Off Topic. Im saying referring to (easter egger) trust me i own them and I do research on them. Also lots of people have told you this A hen will not change eggshell colors throughout her life. ... Easter Eggers can lay a variety of colors from blue to green and sometimes even pink and olive eggs WHATEVER COLOR a hen lays first is her permanent color FOR HER whole LIFE. Understood...

No one is arguing with you.

Was she laying 5-6 eggs a week?
Do you have others that lay green and blue eggs?
My EEs tend to lay the same egg color for their entire lives and don't change between blue and green.
Is she molting?

She is the only EE I have. I think she has just quit laying. She has molted a little but not much. How long does a molt normally last?
