Need pullets/ rehoming marans rooster:

I'm looking for a few pullets, just 2 or three to replace some of my SEXED chicks that have turned out to be roosters (grumble). I'm in the Walla Walla area but can easily pick up in surrounding areas. I'm interested in white, green, blue or dark brown egg layers. My husband likes Speckled Sussex and Buff orpingtons too. I'd get chicks from the feed store but I just kicked seven chicks out of the brooder in my spare room and I'm kind of enjoying the peace and quiet. Thought I'd ask here first. Has anyone got a few extras they would sell to me?

My rooster is a Black Copper Marans from Cackle named Richard Sherman, I'll keep him until he crows just to make sure but I'm 99% sure he's a rooster. He comes when called and is very tolerant of dogs and being handled. So far, not mean at all. Olive egger project, anyone???

Another suspicious chick is a gold-laced wyandotte named Blitz, also suspected rooster. If anyone is in need of a rooster they are free to good home or will trade for a female or olive egger offspring of the Marans.

Hi KrystalRose I have a White Silkie Roo with my hens right now. My hens are: one Maran, one Black Australop. I've been considering giving away my Roo because I'm in the city (West Richland) and my no-crow rooster collar is not very effective. Anyway, if you're interested in fertile eggs from the Silkie/Australorp I should have a couple by this weekend. My Maran is brooding chicks right now from that the Silkie. 5 of 5 hatched, and are showing a lot of Silkie traits: feathered feet, extra toes, black skin. Let me know if you're interested in any of these (eggs, Roo, chicks). Would either be free or trade. :) I don't have a picture of the Australorp handy, sorry. Jenna
Hi! I live in Finley if you still need to rehome your silkie roo I would love to cross him with my blue frizzle! Let me know what you're interested in doing.. P.S. @jennabug don't tell my dh, he doesn't understand chicken math! I just hatched 22 eggs, 7 more get locked down tomorrow, and he bought me 9 chicks 3 weeks ago!

Hey there! Chicken math is awesome!
I did find a home for my roo, but I suspect that a couple of his offspring (Silkie / Cuckoo Maran Cross) will be boys. They have smooth fathers, but feathered feet with 5 toes and little mohawks. :) A few are bearded too. The four black chicks have black beaks, eyes and skin, and the one blue chick has yellow eyes, white skin and a little barring.
Let me know if you'd like one once I know the boys from the girls. :)

I really should wait and see how many rooms I end up with before I add more...that white roo of yours was a huge temptation! Lol I think my blue frizzle has gone broody! She acted funny yesterday but got up off the nest...she was at it again this morning, checked two hours later And she is still sitting... I hope she does...I need to find out if I need to remove the Roo from their run. She is wicked mean though, I don't think he'd dare to mess with the babies...she rules the roost... I have 4 of her eggs going on lockdown today...

Yeah, he was a good rooster too. Pretty mellow, but alas, I could not keep him quiet.

Awesome. I really have enjoyed watching my hen be a mama. My run was pretty small, so I kept them separated. It's been funny to also see my other hen start co-mothering once I re-integrated them. She's stopped laying as well. Silly birds. ;)

Just putting out feelers, would anyone in the area be interested in custom hatching services? Maybe brooding too, for people that don't want to have to deal with dusty chicks indoors?

Possibly, incubator is empty atm, but the brooder box is full 22-1 week olds, and 7 - 4 day olds...or around there lol...oh and outside pen with 9-5 week olds...

I have been thinking about doing just that though...

I'm near Spokane and I would like to be a part of the group as well. I have 2 Australorps, 2 B Orp, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Americana, 1 Golden Sexlink, 2 Wyandottes...All between 3 and 6 weeks....Oiii
